Cue the British accent and Beatles music. Because that's today's theme song!
FINALLY, I get to hold the stories of Grace and Declan and Ruby and fam in my tan little hands!!
And it feels like a whole new book.
Or maybe I feel like a whole new reader.
And it also feels freakin' AH-MAY-ZING!
This is a dream I've had for oh, about forty years, to hold a book that I wrote. And to love it. And to share it with the world.
So it's a good good day.
When I set the goal to be a greeting card writer (at age 10), my hope was to make "millions of people happy every day" with my cards. And I wrote nearly 20,000 in my two+ decades there.
Now, I hope to take people to brand new worlds of happiness, and laughter, and feelings, and love with my books. I hope to make millions of people happy in a whole new way.
Yeah, millions is a big goal. But I've always dreamed big. Many times against steep odds.
Greeting Card Writer was an obscure career with verrry limited openings.
Creating a family was WAY harder than I thought it would be, and yet I have two amazing sons.
Finding/buying the house I'm in now was a stroke of luck and HUGE answered-prayers for a single mama.
But yet, here I sit, in my own personal haven, writing to you about my paperback that was printed just this week. A bright, light, lifetime goal that came to fruition during a very dark, unsettling time in the world.
I'm a firm believer that anything can happen. And that you never know how a day's going to end. No matter how much you try to predict it. So why not hope for the best and imagine great things happening in your life, every day?
Then set about doing what you can about them.
It took a lot of learning and working and trial-and-error to get this book written and published and the paperback in my hands. And I savored that first moment (okay, several hours) with sheer joy and pride and gratitude and love.
And NOW...I'm off to set about making more good things happen for as many people possible -- as a paperback writer, a big-hearted mama, and a decent human being.
The world needs big dreamers and beautiful things.
What are you dreaming of today? How can you bring beauty to someone's world? Do that!
And make yourself happy, too!
Also, please know how happy you make me, simply by being in my world.
Read on.
Dream big.
Stay well.
